Megan Pagniello is the Land Trust Coordinator for the Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas project. Her position is a joint position between the Confederacy of Mainland Mi’kmaq, Unama’ki Institute of Natural Resources, and Eskasoni Fish and Wildlife Commission.
Megan is originally from Markham, Ontario, but moved to Halifax for school back in 2011. In her spare time, Megan can be found walking her dog, at the barn taking care of her horse, hiking, and exploring.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts with honours in Political Science and Environment, Sustainability, and Society and a Masters of Resource and Environmental Management, both from Dalhousie University. Megan’s research focused on biodiversity conservation and habitat connectivity, which blends her love for nature with the pressing need to conserve it.
Having been the Conservation Engagement Intern with Nature Conservancy of Canada, Megan was able to strengthen her skills in environmental education and outreach, which is another passion of hers. She also has worked to earn her RBC Sustainability Leadership Certificate, offered through the College of Sustainability at Dalhousie University, another opportunity that allowed her to develop her outreach and leadership skills. Megan is always looking for opportunities to learn and develop new skills and she is excited to be a part of the IPCA team!
